Fourtunate Cats
About

Lucas Daunt is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger. Raised in Davison, Michigan, a suburb of Flint, he got his musical start singing harmonies with his siblings at home and messing around on a piano in his basement. Lucas is currently a student at the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music at Western Michigan University. An avid fan of vocal jazz, he has been a singer in the world-renowned Gold Company program for 4 years. Lucas also directs, arranges, and sings bass for The Fourtunate Cats, a Downbeat award-winning jazz vocal quartet.
He has had the privilege of working with and performing alongside a number of esteemed musicians and pedagogues, including Greg Jasperse, Liz Townsend, Duane Davis, Michael Mayo, Aubrey Johnson, and the New York Voices. While singing in Gold Company, under the direction of Duane Davis, he had the opportunity to perform at the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conference in New Orleans, both playing guitar and singing with the group.
Lucas’s style draws influence from groups such as The Beach Boys, The Four Freshmen, The Singers Unlimited, and the New York Voices. He strives to bring the vocal harmony tradition further into the 21st century, harkening back to older times for all those who wish to hear.
